At J.W. Woodcrafters we do not import our items from a foreign country and resell. Everything you see here on our site is made by us in our shop in Northern Michigan. We use no stains or dyes on our woods; they are the real natural hardwoods as cherry and maples. Be wary of sites that just offer a cherry finish, we offer real cherry. Most of our woods we get from local mills all kiln dried.
Our quality is high because we handcraft every piece shown. We do not have a factory that turns out massed produced items but a small shop where we take the time to see each piece is done right. Our items are not tomorrow’s garage sale items but heirlooms.
Our past clients include the Smithsonian Institute, to people like you that demand high quality, at an affordable price.
We have been making our items for over 18 years and have seeked to always improve, never cheapen. We use Minwax polyurethane for our finishes, with sanding in between coats for a smooth finish. Where hinges are used, we now use an extruded hinge milled from solid brass, not rolled sheet metal ones. Our inlays are not decals but real wood. We have won awards for our work but the most important award is your satisfaction.
